Josh Kemp's Jazz Prophets
Acclaimed saxophonist Josh Kemp features a stellar line-up as part of a major UK tour promoting his new album, 'Tone Poetry'. Equally at ease playing Josh's original compositions or repertoire from the jazz tradition, the Jazz Prophets feature Tim Lapthorn on Piano, Mick Hutton on Bass and Clive Fenner on Drums. This band will give you hard-driving swing, lush ballads, and beautiful melodic lines all conjured with instinctive empathy from their common musical approach. Known for his melodic inventiveness, warm tone and heartfelt and lyrical approach to improvisation, saxophonist and composer Josh read philosophy at Oxford University and won scholarships to study Jazz at London's Guildhall and Trinity Schools of music. His previous CDs include 'Animus', released on 33Records and 'Kukus', in collaboration with Tim Lapthorn. Josh is an active member of the E17 jazz collective and conducts workshops and courses around the UK.
