Born in Salford, saxophonist Stan Robinson, a fine musician with a pedigree longer than a list of Capello's excuses, moved to London in 1959 and toured India for six months before joining the Allan Ganley/Keith Christie Jazz Makers. Stan became a member of the Phil Seamen Quintet in 1962 and also played with the Tubby Hayes' Big Band, Long John Baldry, (Eric Burdon and) the Animals' Big Band, Sandy Brown/Al Fairweather Band, Humphrey Lyttelton and the Kenny Clarke/Francy Boland Big Band. He joined the Don Rendell Quartet, toured with Maynard Ferguson's big band, played with the Ronnie Ross Sextet, as well as leading his own quartet. In the 80s, he toured with King Curtis and Aretha Franklin, and toured the US with Charlie Watts' Orchestra as well as working with Dizzy Gillespie, Andy Williams and Tony Bennett.
